- How do I get tested? We conduct a 1 or 2 minute non-invasive and pain-free comprehensive health scan for your key body measurements, to create a plan based on your unique physiology and biomarkers.

The empathetic health coach "Although I grew up in a real handball family, I discovered around age 20 that being energetic and healthy is about much more than sports. Hormonal issues taught me that health transcends the concepts of mental and physical: hormones affect everything, and everything affects hormones. Through balance in stress and rest, good sleep, nourishing nutrition and getting to know myself very well, I'm doing great now, but this is still important. The road up is one where each peak makes the view more beautiful. How it works
The Charged Multiscan is based on functional analysis and physiological data — not to be confused with bio-energetic scanning devices or bioresonance techniques. It is a computer-controlled medical system that visualizes collected data through scientifically validated technologies. These visualizations include images, diagrams, and customized graphics, offering valuable insights into your body's functionality and overall health. The results serve as a baseline reference for monitoring (initial measurement) and tracking progress over time (follow-up assessments).
Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
HRV measures fluctuations in the time interval between consecutive heartbeats, expressed in milliseconds (ms). It is a key indicator of the flexibility and adaptability of the autonomic nervous system, reflecting the balance between:
- The parasympathetic nervous system (rest-and-digest), which slows the heart rate and allows for more variability (higher HRV).

Digital Volume Pulse Analysis (DVPA)
Photoplethysmography (PPG) is a non-invasive technique that measures blood volume changes using optical sensors. It is commonly used to assess heart rate and blood oxygen saturation, providing insights into cardiovascular health.
The shape of the pulse wave reveals arterial stiffness, vascular resistance, and overall cardiovascular function. The arterial pulse wave consists of two main components: a forward wave and a reflected wave. Article 1 – Definitions
In these terms and conditions, the following definitions apply:
- Cooling-off Period: The period during which the consumer can exercise their right of withdrawal.
- Consumer: A natural person not acting in the course of a profession or business who enters into a distance contract with the entrepreneur.
- Day: Calendar day.
- Duration Transaction: A distance contract for a series of products and/or services with delivery and/or purchase obligations spread over time.
- Durable Medium: Any means that enables the consumer or entrepreneur to store information addressed to them in a way that allows future consultation and unaltered reproduction of the stored information.
- Right of Withdrawal: The consumer's ability to withdraw from the distance contract within the cooling-off period.
- Model Withdrawal Form: The withdrawal form provided by the entrepreneur that a consumer can use to exercise their right of withdrawal.
- Entrepreneur: The natural or legal person who offers products and/or services to consumers remotely.
- Distance Contract: A contract concluded within an organized system for the remote sale of products and/or services, where one or more remote communication techniques are exclusively used up to and including the conclusion of the contract.

Article 3 – Applicability
These general terms and conditions apply to every offer made by the entrepreneur and every distance contract and order concluded between the entrepreneur and the consumer.
Before concluding a distance contract, the text of these general terms and conditions will be made available to the consumer. If this is not reasonably possible, the consumer will be informed where the terms and conditions can be accessed and that they will be provided upon request, free of charge.
If the distance contract is concluded electronically, the text of these general terms and conditions can be provided electronically in a way that allows the consumer to store them on a durable medium. If this is not possible, the consumer will be informed where they can access them electronically and that they will be sent upon request.
If specific product or service conditions apply in addition to these general terms and conditions, the second and third paragraphs of this article also apply, and the consumer may always rely on the provision most favorable to them in case of contradictions.
If any provision in these terms and conditions is found to be invalid or void, the agreement and these conditions remain in force, and the invalid provision will be replaced by a valid one that closely aligns with the original intent.
Situations not covered by these terms should be assessed in the spirit of these terms and conditions.
Any ambiguities in the interpretation of one or more provisions of these terms and conditions should be interpreted in the spirit of these terms and conditions.
Article 4 – The Offer
If an offer has a limited validity period or is subject to conditions, this will be explicitly stated in the offer.
The offer is non-binding. The entrepreneur reserves the right to change or adjust the offer.
The offer includes a complete and accurate description of the products and/or services provided. The description is sufficiently detailed to allow the consumer to make a proper assessment. If the entrepreneur uses images, they represent the offered products and/or services truthfully. Apparent mistakes or errors in the offer do not bind the entrepreneur.
All images, specifications, and details in the offer are indicative and cannot be a basis for compensation or contract termination.
Every offer contains information that makes it clear to the consumer what the rights and obligations are associated with accepting the offer, including:
- The price, including taxes.
- Any shipping costs.
- The method by which the contract will be concluded and what actions are necessary for this.
- Whether the right of withdrawal applies.
- The payment, delivery, and execution method.
- The acceptance period of the offer or the period within which the entrepreneur guarantees the price.
- Whether the contract will be archived after its conclusion and how the consumer can access it.
- The languages in which the contract can be concluded, besides Dutch.
- The codes of conduct the entrepreneur adheres to and how the consumer can review them electronically.
- The minimum duration of the distance contract in case of a duration transaction.
Article 5 – The Agreement
The agreement is concluded at the moment the consumer accepts the offer and meets the conditions set therein.
If the consumer has accepted the offer electronically, the entrepreneur will immediately confirm receipt of the acceptance electronically. As long as this acceptance is not confirmed, the consumer may dissolve the contract.
If the contract is concluded electronically, the entrepreneur will take appropriate technical and organizational measures to secure the electronic data transfer and ensure a safe web environment. If the consumer can pay electronically, the entrepreneur will take appropriate security measures.
The entrepreneur may, within legal limits, assess whether the consumer can meet their payment obligations and investigate other relevant facts necessary for a responsible distance contract. If the entrepreneur has valid reasons not to conclude the contract, they are entitled to refuse an order or attach special conditions to its execution.
Article 6 – Right of Withdrawal
For Product Delivery: Consumers may cancel their purchase within 14 days after receiving the product without providing a reason. During the cooling-off period, the consumer must handle the product and packaging with care, only unpacking or using it to the extent necessary to determine if they wish to keep it.
To exercise their right of withdrawal, the consumer must notify the entrepreneur within 14 days using the model withdrawal form or another clear communication method (e.g., email). The consumer must return the product within 14 days of this notification.
If the consumer fails to notify the entrepreneur or return the product within the specified periods, the purchase is considered final.
For Service Delivery: Consumers may cancel a service contract within 14 days after concluding the contract, unless the service has already been fully performed with their explicit prior consent.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, the consumer must follow the provided reasonable and clear instructions.
Article 7 – Costs in Case of Withdrawal
- Consumers bear the direct costs of returning the product.
- If the consumer has already made a payment, the entrepreneur will refund it within 14 days after withdrawal, provided the returned product is received in good condition.
- Consumers are liable for any depreciation in value due to handling beyond what is necessary to determine whether they want to keep the product.
Article 8 – Exclusion of the Right of Withdrawal
The entrepreneur may exclude the consumer's right of withdrawal for certain products and services as described in paragraphs 2 and 3. The exclusion of the right of withdrawal is only valid if the entrepreneur clearly stated this in the offer or at least before the contract was concluded.
Exclusion of the right of withdrawal is only possible for the following products:
- Products that are custom-made according to the consumer's specifications.
- Products that are clearly personal in nature.
- Products that cannot be returned due to their nature.
- Products that may deteriorate or expire quickly.
- Products whose price is subject to fluctuations in the financial market, over which the entrepreneur has no control.
- Newspapers, magazines, or periodicals, except for subscriptions.
- Audio or video recordings, and computer software whose seal has been broken.
- Hygiene products whose seal has been broken after delivery.
Exclusion of the right of withdrawal is only possible for the following services:
- Services related to accommodation, transport, catering, or leisure activities to be performed on a specific date or during a specific period.
- Services that have already commenced with the consumer's explicit consent before the end of the withdrawal period.
- Bets and lotteries.
Article 9 – The Price
- Prices stated in the offer remain valid during the specified validity period, except for price changes due to adjustments in VAT rates or legal regulations.
- Prices of products or services subject to fluctuations in the financial market, beyond the entrepreneur's control, may vary. This fluctuation and its potential impact on pricing will be clearly indicated in the offer.
- Price increases within three months after the agreement was concluded are only permitted if they result from legal changes.
- Price increases after three months are only permitted if:
- They result from legal regulations, or
- The consumer has the right to terminate the contract with effect from the date the price increase takes effect.
- All prices mentioned in the offer include VAT.
- The entrepreneur is not liable for printing or typographical errors. In case of errors, the entrepreneur is not obliged to deliver the product at the incorrect price.
Article 10 – Conformity and Warranty
- The entrepreneur guarantees that the products and services comply with the contract, the stated specifications, reasonable usability standards, and any applicable legal regulations at the time of contract formation. If applicable, the entrepreneur guarantees the product's suitability for special use if agreed upon.
- Any warranty provided by the entrepreneur, manufacturer, or importer does not affect the consumer's legal rights under the contract.
- Any defects or incorrectly delivered products must be reported in writing to the entrepreneur within two months after the defect is discovered.
- The warranty period provided by the entrepreneur corresponds to the manufacturer's warranty period. The entrepreneur is not responsible for the ultimate suitability of the product for an individual consumer's intended purpose or for any advice regarding its use.
- The warranty does not apply in the following cases:
- The consumer or a third party has repaired or altered the product.
- The product has been exposed to abnormal conditions or misused contrary to instructions.
- The defect is a result of government-imposed regulations regarding material use or quality standards.
Article 11 – Delivery and Execution
- The entrepreneur will exercise the utmost care in receiving and processing product orders and assessing service requests.
- The delivery address is the address provided by the consumer.
- The entrepreneur will process accepted orders with due speed, but no later than 30 days, unless a different delivery period has been agreed upon. If delivery is delayed or the order cannot be fulfilled, the consumer will be informed within 30 days. In such cases, the consumer may terminate the contract without costs.
- All delivery times are indicative. Consumers cannot claim compensation for delivery delays.
- If the contract is terminated due to failure to deliver, the entrepreneur will refund any payments within 14 days.
- If delivery of an ordered product is impossible, the entrepreneur will make an effort to provide a replacement product. This will be clearly communicated to the consumer. For replacement products, the right of withdrawal cannot be excluded. The consumer may return the replacement product at no additional cost.
- The risk of product damage or loss remains with the entrepreneur until delivery to the consumer or their designated representative, unless explicitly agreed otherwise.
Article 12 – Duration Transactions: Duration, Termination, and Renewal
Termination
- The consumer may terminate an indefinite-term agreement for recurring product or service delivery at any time, following agreed termination rules and with a notice period of no more than one month.
- The consumer may terminate a fixed-term agreement for recurring product or service delivery at the end of the term, following agreed termination rules and with a notice period of no more than one month.
- Consumers may terminate agreements:
- At any time without being restricted to a specific period.
- Using the same method as the agreement was originally entered into.
- With the same notice period as the entrepreneur applies for themselves.
Renewal
- Fixed-term agreements for recurring product or service delivery cannot be automatically renewed or extended.
- An exception applies for subscriptions to newspapers, magazines, and periodicals, which may be automatically extended for a maximum of three months, provided the consumer can terminate with one month's notice.
- A fixed-term agreement for product or service delivery may only be extended indefinitely if the consumer can terminate at any time with one month's notice, or three months' notice if deliveries occur less than once per month.
- Trial subscriptions automatically expire after the trial period and do not renew automatically.
Duration
- If a contract lasts more than one year, the consumer may terminate it at any time after one year with one month's notice, unless premature termination is deemed unreasonable under fairness principles.
Article 13 – Payment
- Unless otherwise agreed, amounts due from the consumer must be paid within 7 working days after the cooling-off period begins. If no cooling-off period applies, payment must be made within 7 working days after contract confirmation.
- Consumers must immediately report inaccuracies in provided payment details.
- In the event of non-payment, the entrepreneur may charge reasonable costs that were communicated to the consumer in advance.
Article 14 – Complaints Procedure
- The entrepreneur has a well-publicized complaints procedure and handles complaints accordingly.
- Complaints regarding contract execution must be submitted within two months after the consumer notices the issue.
- Complaints will be addressed within 14 days after receipt. If more time is needed, the consumer will be notified of the expected resolution timeline.
- If a complaint cannot be resolved, it may be submitted to an independent dispute resolution body.
- Complaints do not suspend the consumer's obligations, unless the entrepreneur states otherwise.
- If a complaint is justified, the entrepreneur will either replace or repair the product free of charge.
Article 15 – Disputes
- These general terms and conditions are governed exclusively by Dutch law, even if the consumer resides abroad.
- The Vienna Sales Convention does not apply.
Article 16 – Additional or Deviating Provisions
- Any additional or deviating provisions must not be disadvantageous to the consumer and must be recorded in writing or stored on a durable medium that the consumer can access.

Technology Limitations

We leven in een tijd van ongekende mogelijkheden om je gezondheid te verbeteren. Kennis en informatie is voor iedereen beschikbaar en dus zou je – mits je niet erfelijk bent belast – kerngezond kunnen zijn. Waarom is dit dan toch niet zo? Eén reden is dat 'weten' nog niet hetzelfde is als 'doen'. Gedragsverandering is moeilijk. En als je werkelijk alles kunt doen, kan dit enorm verlammend werken. Want waar begin je? Marleen Vernooij, medisch hulpverlener cardiologie en health coach bij Charged deelt haar visie.
Health coach: zo pak je de regie over jouw gezondheid
Marleen: 'Ter illustratie gaan we even terug naar de jaren '80 en hoe mensen toen met hun gezondheid omgingen. In dat decennium begon gezondheid steeds populairder te worden, maar het was vooral een groepsactiviteit. Mensen volgden wat op dat moment "in" was, vaak zonder te kijken naar wat bij hun eigen lichaam paste. Aerobics was dé rage: hele zalen vol mensen volgden groepslessen, geïnspireerd door fitnessicoon Jane Fonda. Het ging om meedoen en calorieën verbranden.
Vetarm eten
Voeding in de jaren '80 draaide vooral om vetarm eten. Vet werd gezien als de grote vijand van gezondheid en alles moest light. Dit gebeurde vaak zonder veel aandacht voor andere belangrijke aspecten, zoals suikerinname of een gebalanceerde voeding. Diëten zoals Weight Watchers waren razend populair en gericht op simpelweg calorieën tellen. Voor algemene gezondheidsvragen ging je naar de huisarts. Als je ergens last van had, ging je naar de dokter en die loste het op. Wellness, holistische gezondheid en preventieve zorg waren nog echt weinig onder de aandacht bij het grote publiek. De focus lag ook vooral op fysieke gezondheid: sporten, afvallen en er goed uitzien. Het mentale aspect, slaap en stressmanagement waren nog niet in beeld. Gezondheid in de jaren '80 was dus vooral gericht op algemene adviezen, groepsactiviteiten en populaire trends, zonder veel aandacht voor de unieke behoeften van het individu.
Gezondheid in 2025: u vraagt, wij draaien
In 2025 weten we: voorkomen is beter dan genezen en leefstijl is hierop van grote invloed. Ook willen we méér: niet alleen niet ziek worden, maar optimaal leven, vol energie! We weten dat we verschillen in persoonlijkheden, thuissituatie, budget en dat vrouwen geen kleine mannen zijn. Het aanbod aan voeding, beweging, ontspanning, tools om goed te slapen en sociale activiteiten is enorm. Zo leeft de één vegan, doet 3 keer per week yoga en gaat om half 10 naar bed en krijg jij misschien meer energie van vlees eten, krachttraining en pas om 11 uur gaan slapen. Maar hoe weet je dat? Door alles uit te proberen? Dat kan natuurlijk. Maar het liefst wil je precies weten wat jij het beste kunt doen (en laten), toch? Door heel specifiek te kijken naar jouw kenmerken en behoeften, krijg je diepgaand inzicht in wat voor jou werkt.
Jouw gezondheidstype
Ik ben werkzaam als health coach bij Charged. Daar krijgen we diepgaand inzicht door eerst uitgebreid te vragen naar wat je al doet aan gezonde gewoontes (de input) en welk effect dit heeft op hoe je je voelt (de output). Op basis van je antwoorden bepalen we jouw gezondheidstype. Daarnaast is het belangrijk welk verhaal jouw lichaam vertelt. Ervaar je veel stress of vermoeidheid? Hoe flexibel voel je je? Past je leefstijl bij je geslacht, lichaamssamenstelling, cyclus (indien aanwezig), levensfase en thuissituatie?
Meetbare gezondheid
Fysiek kun je jouw lichaamssamenstelling meten in plaats van alleen je gewicht, om zo het effect te beoordelen van je sportprogramma op je spier- en vetpercentages. Je kunt bloed- en DNA-onderzoek doen om je risico op bijvoorbeeld hart- en vaatziekten te bepalen en zo te weten welke risicofactoren je extra wilt vermijden. Je kunt meten of je voldoende vitaminen, mineralen en gezonde vetten binnenkrijgt via je huidige voeding, of dat je beter iets kunt aanpassen of gericht supplementen kunt gebruiken. En je kunt stress in jouw lichaam meten met bijvoorbeeld hartritmevariabiliteit. Wearables zoals een Fitbit, Oura Ring of WHOOP meten je beweging, hartslag en herstel, zodat je weet hoe je lichaam reageert, wanneer je een tandje erbij kunt doen of juist meer rust nodig hebt.
Blijf pragmatisch
En nu hoor ik je denken: "slaat dit niet een beetje door?" Misschien heb je de Netflix-documentaire "Don't Die" gezien, over het verhaal van Bryan Johnson, een techmiljonair die veroudering probeert te stoppen met extreme gezondheidsmaatregelen. Van strikte diëten tot medische innovaties zoals bloedtransfusies met zijn zoon; Johnson streeft naar een perfecte gezondheid. Wat mij betreft is dit niet het doel. Gezondheid is een voorwaarde om een fijn leven te leiden, geen doel op zich (tenzij je hier heel blij van wordt natuurlijk). We willen het liefst zo gezond en energiek mogelijk oud worden. Het helpt daarbij om precies te weten wat voor jou belangrijk is, want dat scheelt tijd, geld en energie.
Hormonale cyclus
Voor mij hebben het regelmatig doen van onze Health Scan en de dagelijkse inzichten van de Oura ring geholpen om meer inzicht te krijgen in hoe mijn hormonale cyclus mijn welzijn beïnvloedt. Dat ik daadwerkelijk een hogere hartslag, hogere temperatuur, lagere HRV en minder energie heb. De levensverwachting van vrouwen blijft stijgen, maar hoe zit het met onze gezonde jaren? Onderzoek toont aan dat hoewel vrouwen gemiddeld langer leven dan mannen, ze vaak meer jaren doorbrengen met chronische ziektes en een verminderde kwaliteit van leven. Het concept longevity, het verlengen van gezonde levensjaren, wordt daarom steeds relevanter.
Longevity: zo krijg je een lagere biologische leeftijd
Het idee van longevity is niet nieuw. Al in de oudheid hielden filosofen en artsen zich bezig met vragen over gezond ouder worden. Hippocrates, de 'vader van de geneeskunde', benadrukte het belang van preventie en leefstijl in plaats van genezing. Tegenwoordig bevestigt moderne wetenschap dit: veroudering is niet slechts een opeenstapeling van jaren, maar een biologisch proces dat beïnvloed kan worden door keuzes in voeding, beweging, slaap en stressmanagement.
Biologische leeftijd
Een belangrijke mijlpaal in het onderzoek naar veroudering is het concept van de biologische leeftijd. Dit is niet hetzelfde als je chronologische leeftijd (het aantal jaren dat je leeft), maar geeft aan hoe oud je lichaam daadwerkelijk is op cellulair niveau. Dit inzicht, dat voortkomt uit baanbrekend onderzoek naar epigenetica en glycobiologie, biedt praktische handvatten om het verouderingsproces te vertragen.
Biologische versus chronologische leeftijd
Stel je voor: twee vrouwen, beide 50 jaar oud. De een rookt, slaapt weinig, ervaart veel stress en eet onregelmatig. De ander leeft gezond, beweegt regelmatig en investeert in ontspanning. Hoewel hun chronologische leeftijd gelijk is, kan hun biologische leeftijd aanzienlijk verschillen. Misschien voelt de ene vrouw zich 60, terwijl de ander een lichaam heeft dat lijkt op dat van een 40-jarige. Dit verschil is niet alleen theoretisch: studies tonen aan dat een lagere biologische leeftijd samenhangt met een lager risico op chronische ziektes en een hogere levenskwaliteit.
Waarom is longevity juist nu belangrijk?
Volgens het RIVM brengen vrouwen in Nederland gemiddeld 11 jaar door in verminderde gezondheid. Dit heeft niet alleen persoonlijke gevolgen, maar legt ook een enorme druk op ons zorgsysteem. De stijging van chronische ziektes zoals obesitas, diabetes type 2 en hart- en vaatziekten vraagt om een andere benadering: preventie in plaats van reparatie. Longevity-geneeskunde speelt hierop in door gezondheid te optimaliseren en de 'health span', de jaren waarin we gezond en vitaal zijn, te verlengen. Wil je hier direct mee beginnen? Do the Results Really Work?
The numbers speak for themselves:
- 67% show progress: Most clients saw clear improvements in their overall well-being.

The Long Haul: Body Composition Takes Time
Another finding is that changes in body composition, such as muscle mass or fat percentage, require longer periods for significant change. This process takes months, not weeks. The lesson? Patience pays off.
What Can You Do?
- Consistency over perfection: Focus on regular efforts, like weekly strength training and meal planning.
- Give your body time: Don't expect miracles in a few weeks; trust the process.
What Do Our Clients Need?
Interestingly, our Habits Scan revealed that transforming the body is a top priority for 19% of our clients. This ranges from weight loss to building muscle and a stronger physique. Following this, 15.9% want more energy, and 14.3% aim to reduce stress. This shows that physical and mental health often go hand in hand.
Other key themes include better sleep (11.1%) and finding more purpose (12.7%). This highlights that health for many people is more than just the physical — it also involves mental and emotional well-being.
What this data teaches us is that health is personal. For some, it's about physical improvements, while for others, it's about mental balance or better sleep. This underscores the importance of tailoring our interventions to the specific needs of each client. Only by truly meeting people where they are can we make sustainable changes.
What Motivates?
Before starting a healthier lifestyle, it's important to know what truly motivates you. This insight helps you get through tough times when results may take time to appear. When you clearly understand your drive, you stay focused and motivated.
From our Habits Scan, we learned:
- 52.4% are motivated by setting and achieving specific goals.
- 19% value enjoyment in the process.
- 9.5% rely on social support and teamwork.

Who Are Our Clients, and What Do They Seek?

In welke stijl leef jij?
Met welke tone of voice ga jij je dag door? Welke gedachte komt als eerste op als je wakker wordt? En met welk gevoel zet je je eerste been uit bed? Wat is het eerste wat je drinkt?
Ik dacht vroeger dat leefstijl iets oppervlakkigs was. Leefstijlcoaching? Dat vond ik eerlijk gezegd niet zo interessant. En ik ken tientallen coaches, maar geen enkele leefstijlcoach. Grappig toch?
Maar je leefstijl is letterlijk de stijl waarin je leeft en daarmee allesbepalend! Wat je dagelijks doet – de gewoontes die je hebt – is slechts het topje van de ijsberg. Die 10%, zoals je waarschijnlijk weet, wordt grotendeels bepaald door de 90% die onder de oppervlakte ligt. En toch bepaalt dat zichtbare topje wel hoe je je dag (en dus leven) ervaart:
- hoeveel energie je hebt;
- hoe verbonden, gelukkig en dankbaar je je voelt;
- en hoe gezond en fit je ouder wordt.
Maar hoe weet je wat zich onder water (en dus onbewust) bevindt? Bij Charged starten we daarom altijd met Meten en Weten. Gezonder leven hoeft geen eindeloze strijd te zijn. Hoe zorg jij ervoor dat het dit keer wél lukt? Misschien ligt het aan je aanpak…
Gezonde gewoontes voelen vaak als iets dat je "moet" doen. Maar hoe lang hou je iets vol dat voelt als een verplichting? Begin met een reden die jou echt raakt. Gezondheid is altijd een middel voor iets diepers: meer energie, minder stress, rust in je hoofd – wat je "waarom" ook is, maak dat de basis.
Te corny? Waarom werkt het dan nog steeds niet?
Maak het simpel. Gezonde gewoontes hoeven niet ingewikkeld te zijn. Begin klein. Kies iets wat je elke dag kunt doen, alsof je een berg beklimt – stap voor stap kom je hoger. Elke kleine actie geeft je een goed gevoel en versterkt je zelfvertrouwen en mentale veerkracht.
Geen wonderen. Die bestaan niet. Wil je echte verandering? Dan is een leefstijlshift nodig. Gezonde gewoontes vormen niet alleen je lijf, maar ook je identiteit. Geef jezelf tijd om deze routines op te bouwen en voel hoe ze je stress verlagen en je balans verbeteren.
Begin nu, en over een paar maanden kijk je trots terug. Begin je nu niet? Tja… dan moet je later alsnog beginnen.
Wees kritisch. Laat je niet gek maken door eindeloze "geheime formules." Jij denkt dat je niet beïnvloedbaar bent? Waarom heb je dan al vijf verschillende diëten geprobeerd en roep je telkens opnieuw dat dit dé oplossing is… om dan weer op te geven?
Geen excuses meer. Wil je echt veranderen, dan begint het bij je eigen keuzes. Leer omgaan met verleidingen, bouw veerkracht op en besef dat iedereen z'n eigen tempo heeft. Wees mild voor jezelf, maar wees ook eerlijk: tijd voor actie en verantwoordelijkheid.
Fouten maken mag. Perfectie hoeft niet. Gezonde gewoontes vallen niet na één keer 'falen' – pak de draad weer op. Consistentie is wat telt.
Misschien klink ik hard? Maar soms heb je een wake-up call nodig. En als je denkt, 'dit gaat niet over mij,' dan heb ik het waarschijnlijk ook niet tegen jou. Sommigen zijn naturals, anderen hebben gewoon pech – dat is klote. Maar als je de keuze hebt, is het tijd voor actie.
Klaar om gezondere gewoontes een natuurlijke plek te geven? Begin met begrijpen wie je bent en wat je nodig hebt. Bouw verder met kleine stappen die lichaam en geest versterken. Voor velen is dit inmiddels een onbewust onderdeel van hun dag – en ja, daar zijn ze blij om. Waarom zou jij dat niet ook ervaren?
Gezonde gewoontes zijn dé basis voor het bereiken van je diepste verlangens. Your health is your wealth – voor lichaam én geest. Jij kunt het ook!

Nieuwe start met Charged: een reis naar gezondheid, balans en betekenis

Interview met een van onze co-founders, Niek Karsmakers.
Wat als een gezonde leefstijl geen eindpunt is, maar iets dat je elke dag, stap voor stap, opbouwt?
Sinds ik een stapje terug deed bij Aimforthemoon, ging ik met volle overgave op zoek naar iets nieuws. Ik was klaar voor een nieuwe purpose, mijn volgende grote avontuur. Maar ondanks alle interessante boeken, podcasts, ideeën en gesprekken die ik had met coaches en mentoren, bleef de richting onduidelijk (zie o.a. S01E4, S01E05, en S01E07). Ik kwam er met alleen nadenken gewoon niet uit. Dus besloot ik het anders aan te pakken en ging terug naar mijn lichaam. Ik richtte me op een gezondere leefstijl, begon simpelweg te voelen in plaats van te forceren, en, zonder het direct door te hebben, vond ik daar precies de richting die ik zocht.
Misschien heeft het ook te maken met mijn leeftijd. Onlangs werd ik veertig – voor sommigen nog jong, voor anderen immens volwassen. Voor mij was het een beetje van beide. Ik realiseerde me dat mijn lichaam tot nu toe altijd voor mij zorgde, maar dat het nu tijd werd om die verantwoordelijkheid zelf op te nemen. Dit keer niet als een project met een einddoel, maar als een levenslange verbintenis met mezelf.
Uit gesprekken bleek dat ik niet de enige was die op zoek is naar een gezonde balans tussen lichaam en geest. Ik was al bezig een nieuw bedrijf op te zetten in personal health, Charged. Door mijn eigen ervaringen en inzichten groeide dat voor mij uit tot meer dan een idee. Mensen helpen gezonder en energieker te leven, zowel fysiek als mentaal, werd een missie voor de lange termijn.
Stoppen en echt luisteren
Het inzicht dat Charged mijn nieuwe richting is, werd ook mogelijk doordat ik eindelijk de ruimte had om stil te staan. In die rust werd iets heel duidelijk: mijn zoektocht naar succes had me juist verder van mijn eigen balans afgeduwd. Jarenlang volgde ik intensieve trainingsschema's en diëten, streefde extreme sportdoelen na. Op zich is daar niets mis mee, ik hou van een uitdaging, maar ik zag al die tijd iets belangrijks over het hoofd: ik luisterde alleen naar externe raadgevers en niet naar mijn eigen lichaam.
Waarom gezonde gewoontes niet zo eenvoudig zijn als ze lijken
We kennen allemaal de regels van gezond leven: dagelijks bewegen, gezond eten, voldoende ontspanning, en genoeg slaap. Dit is niets nieuws. Toch zie ik dat veel mensen zich opgejaagd voelen door een overload aan verplichtingen en zich vastlopen. Sterker nog, meer dan de helft van de Nederlanders is objectief ongezond, met welvaartsziekten zoals obesitas, hoge bloeddruk en hartfalen als gevolg. Het probleem is vaak niet de kennis – we weten echt wel wát we moeten doen – maar hoe je deze kennis vertaalt naar een werkbaar dagelijks ritme dat je ook kunt volhouden. Dat is een van de grootste uitdagingen: hoe behoud je een gezonde leefstijl wanneer werk, gezin en sociale verplichtingen ook om aandacht vragen?
Het nieuwe avontuur: Charged als jouw reisgenoot
Charged is niet wéér zo'n gezondheidsprogramma, maar een leefstijlpartner die gezondheid toegankelijk en duurzaam maakt. Duurzame gezondheid: een bergbeklimming in kleine stappen
We zien gedragsverandering als een bergbeklimming: het draait niet om de sprong naar de top, maar om de kleine, consistente stappen die je dagelijks zet. Onze ervaring leert dat mensen met de juiste begeleiding stap voor stap gezonde gewoontes kunnen opbouwen. We hebben al vele individuen mogen begeleiden die nu met trots hun progressie zien en merken dat hun energie en veerkracht zijn gegroeid.
Mijn vier persoonlijke pijlers van duurzame gezondheid
Gezondheid is eigenlijk de voorwaarde om de waardevolle dingen in het leven mogelijk te maken. Wat die dingen zijn, verschilt per persoon. En ook gezondheid heeft voor iedereen een unieke invulling; iedereen heeft een eigen blauwdruk voor optimale persoonlijke gezondheid. Voor mij zijn dit de vier pijlers die ik hanteer:
- Beweging: Voor mij was beweging jarenlang een manier om te presteren. Ik trainde intensief, met de overtuiging dat "meer altijd beter" was. Nu weet ik dat dit niet werkt. Door Charged heb ik geleerd dat beweging niet draait om de zwaarste workout of de grootste uitdaging, maar om manieren van bewegen die mijn lichaam ondersteunen. Ik houd nog steeds van uitdagingen, maar die doe ik nu enkel voor de fun, niet omdat ik denk dat het "moet" voor mijn gezondheid. In mijn huidige routine streef ik ernaar om elke dag 10.000 stappen te zetten (of het equivalent te fietsen) en drie keer per week aan krachttraining te doen. Daarnaast laat ik de auto vaker staan om de fiets te pakken. Deze aanpak helpt me fit te blijven zonder mijn lichaam onnodig te belasten, en het past naadloos in mijn dagelijkse leven.
- Voeding: Voor mij was voeding altijd een kwestie van 'wat het beste resultaat geeft', waarmee ik bedoelde: vet- en gewichtsverlies. Ik wilde een lichaam waar ik tevreden mee was en mat dat af aan mijn gewicht. Extreme diëten, supplementen, superfoods – ik heb ze allemaal geprobeerd. Uit recent onderzoek bleek dat ik al van jongs af aan leefde met coeliakie (ernstige glutenintolerantie), zonder dit te beseffen. Nu begrijp ik dat voeding niet draait om restricties, maar om voedzaam eten dat energie geeft en past bij mijn lichaam. Dankzij Charged maak ik realistische keuzes die me ondersteunen, zonder dat ik constant bezig ben met calorieën tellen. In mijn huidige routine kies ik bewust voor voeding zonder restricties (m.u.v. gluten, en dat is al een hele klus), met zoveel mogelijk onbewerkte, basic ingrediënten. Ik zorg ervoor dat elke maaltijd een goede balans heeft van eiwitten, vetten en koolhydraten, met een speciale focus op voldoende eiwitten. Mijn extreme sugar cravings zijn verdwenen. Ook drink ik veel minder alcohol en veel meer water dan voorheen, wat me helpt om me energieker en helderder te voelen.
- Mentale gezondheid en rust: Rust is geen luxe, maar een essentieel onderdeel van gezondheid. Ik dacht hierbij altijd aan fysieke rust, maar inmiddels weet ik dat het ook gaat om emotionele, mentale, sociale, sensorische en creatieve rust. Door Charged ben ik dit gaan inzien en dat helpt me om momenten van rust en herstel in te bouwen, passend binnen mijn drukke schema. De afgelopen tijd heb ik geleerd hoe belangrijk het is om regelmatig op de pauzeknop te drukken. In mijn huidige routine probeer ik minder tijd achter mijn telefoon en laptop door te brengen. De 10.000 stappen per dag zorgen vrijwel altijd voor een avondwandeling, wat me helpt om de dag rustig af te sluiten. Ik zoek ook vaker de natuur op om tot rust te komen – het brengt me in balans en helpt me echt om te ontladen en op te laden. Daarnaast bezoek ik periodiek een retraite waar ademhalingstechnieken en plantceremonies centraal staan, wat me helpt om een diepere laag van rust te ervaren.
- Zingeving en intrinsieke motivatie: Wat me het meest heeft geholpen, is opnieuw ontdekken waarom ik gezond wil zijn. Niet alleen voor de buitenkant, omdat het in een boek staat of omdat iemand zegt dat het moet, maar puur voor mezelf en mijn dierbaren. Ik voel nu een sterke verbinding met wat voor mij écht belangrijk is. Elke stap richting gezondheid voelt daardoor als een bewuste keuze die ik maak voor mijn eigen welzijn, niet als iets dat opgelegd wordt. En die energie kan ik vervolgens doorgeven aan de mensen om me heen, wat voor mij extra waarde toevoegt aan die keuzes.
Er is niks zo bevredigend als merken dat het bouwen van Charged perfect in lijn ligt met deze persoonlijke visie. Ik doe dit uiteraard niet alleen, maar samen met inspirerende compagnons: Marleen, Jesse, Mark en Evert. Charged voelt niet alleen als mijn purpose; het is een verlengde van mijn eigen reis en de waarden die ik in mijn leven centraal stel. Het maakt elke stap in dit avontuur, zowel privé als zakelijk, een stukje betekenisvoller en versterkt mijn overtuiging dat ik hiermee op het juiste pad ben.
